Hellerup School was constructed with the purpose of creating harmony between pedagogy and space.
In order to reach this goal, it was essential to ensure a close collaboration in the design development between the involved consultants, SKUB (the group responsible for formulating the municipality’s pedagogical visions) and the users (teachers, pupils, the school board, parents, etc.).
This collaboration took the form of a close and transparent dialogue, ensuring that everyone concerned gained the necessary knowledge and insight to be able to evaluate proposals and make qualified decisions. This also meant breaking with traditional technical thinking.

The result is a very open and versatile building, in which traditional classrooms have been replaced by highly flexible multi-purpose home bases.
